Five Things to Know About Olympic Softball Before LA28

The countdown to the LA28 Olympic Games has begun, and excitement is growing across Oklahoma City.

Whether you're a lifelong Softball fan or just discovering the sport, here are five things to know before the world's best players arrive in 2028.

1. The World's Best Athletes Will Compete in Oklahoma City

Olympic Softball brings together elite national teams from around the world, featuring many of the sport's biggest stars.

Every game matters, and every pitch could help determine who takes home an Olympic medal.

2. Oklahoma City Was Chosen for a Reason

Rather than constructing a new venue, LA28 selected Oklahoma City because it already has one of the premier Softball facilities in the world.

Using existing venues aligns with the Olympic movement's focus on sustainability while giving athletes a championship-caliber stage.

3. Softball Has a Rich Olympic History

Softball first appeared in the Olympic Games in 1996 and has produced unforgettable moments featuring some of the greatest athletes in the sport.

Its return for LA28 is another exciting milestone for players and fans.

4. Oklahoma City Knows How to Host Big Events

Hosting major sporting events is nothing new for Oklahoma City.

Each year, the city welcomes athletes and fans from across the globe for premier Softball competitions, creating an atmosphere that blends world-class competition with legendary Oklahoma hospitality.

5. You Can Be Part of History

Olympic Softball isn't just about the athletes on the field.

Thousands of volunteers, local businesses, community partners, and fans will help create an unforgettable Games experience.

Whether you attend a game, volunteer, or simply cheer from the stands, you'll become part of Oklahoma City's Olympic legacy.
